"Following this year’s annual ‘During Performance’ inspection of the stewards at Carlisle Racecourse, the team found that this year’s performance demonstrated by the stewards was very satisfactory.
This year, the inspection team mainly concentrated on the findings from the previous inspection, namely, Ground Regulations, detaining/restraining circumstances, search & ejection and training exercises.
One thing that was noticed by the inspection team was how a lot of the stewards were confident regarding their own positive experiences in talking about actual incidents that they had been involved previously.
This showed improved confidence which is a credit to PES. All the stewards answered the questions and scenarios put to them by the team positively, enthusiastically, with an improved knowledge and understanding of their role at the Racecourse during an event.
In conclusion, I would like to say that the SAG inspection team found the stewards to very courteous and helpful in answering the questions put to them. Can you pass on the team’s thanks for their enthusiasm and participation in this, particularly as this contributes towards the Ground maintaining it’s high ‘S’ factor of 1.0."
